The Elections Committee rejected a petition to establish polling stations in the Negev’s unrecognized Bedouin villages. Without a nearby place to vote, and without public transportation or access to a car to get to distant polling booths, countless residents -- particularly women -- will be forced to forgo their right to vote.
This election, independent activists are leading the charge in full coordination with the region’s residents, coordinating and carrying out an initiative that will ensure residents have their right to vote respected and realized - they are making sure Bedouin voters, especially women, will have a ride to the polls. have promised these activists that we’ll do everything we can in order to recruit as many women as possible who can volunteer to drive women voters to the polls, and to raise the needed money to train volunteers and to hire on-the-ground field coordinators from the communities themselves. We intend to keep that promise - to do so, we need you with us.
